Cataracts can initially be treated with the aid of glasses or contact lenses. However, because cataracts are a progressive condition, you will probably need vision restoration surgery when your vision declines to the point where it interferes with your ability to perform daily tasks safely and effectively. Common symptoms at this point include blurry vision, difficulty seeing at night, glare, haloes, and starbursts around lights. Colors may appear muted and you might experience double vision.
Many patients who've undergone previous procedures wonder if they are candidates for cataract surgery. If you had cataract surgery before IOLs were available, you can undergo a secondary IOL implant. If you previously underwent LASIK, additional tests may be required. Records from your previous eye surgery are helpful in determining your current course of treatment. Our office will help you obtain your records so that you can derive maximum value from your consultation.
